I took this GEM (Modes of Invention) this sem.
Great GEM to take, weekly experiments and one last HOME experiment.
No exam and bidding points not too high.
Here are some photos on my Home experiment.
I’ve made a reed switch motor.
This motor of mine is tweak and seriously optimised so that it could fit in a small plastic container.
Here goes… This is a failed attempt. The container is too heavy. The motor is too bulky and can’t turn well. I assume that more magnet will function better but my presumption seems to be wrong.
Proudly present….. my Final Design. It’s a typical sized container.
This motor can spin very fast ooo~ I didn’t measure it myself but I will do it next semester when I am back to WS2.
Oh ya, the motor is now officially displayed in WS2 :Þ
One of the application of my motor.
To demonstrate the blending of 7 colours really does become WHITE.
Red + Blue = Magenta.
Green + Blue = Cyan (Cyan).
Red + Green =Yellow(Yellow).
Light are Additive colours.
Conversely, Paint are subtractive colours.
That’s why Red + Green = Brown instead.
Another Application of my reed-switch motor. It’s called a Zoetrope.
It’s a primitive animation device. Very cool~!
Refer to Wikepedia to learn more about this little device
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zoetrope
These are the tools and materials that I use to create the Reed switch motor. It’s supposed to be a Home Experiment that’s why we are advised to use just Home materials. Haha… that’s where my habit of keeping junk came into the picture :p
Great GEM to take if you don’t mind spending time every week to come out with weird invention or recreate historical experiments.
No physics pre-requisite, everybody can take, there are BizAd and Arts people taking too.
Great experience~!
I should have found this websites earlier…
nevertheless, i’ll try the methods mentioned inside.

and oh ya… there’s this interesting sleeping pattern called the
polyphasic sleeping method (30 minutes nap every 4 hours continuously).
Maybe one day I could try that… looks interesting :p
http://www.stevepavlina.com/blog/2005/10/polyphasic-sleep/
This guy actually tried that for 5 and a half months,
good result, and he updated his blog regarding his ‘experiment’ quite frequently.
One of the major reason that causes him to change back to monophasic sleeping pattern was because the whole world is monophasic, that gives him an 90minutes disadvantage during the day for social interaction.
There are more reasons,

well.. it’s back to biochem and electronics and CTW.
